Welcome

PAGE 2 / 8

Welcome. Over the next 60 minutes we will walk you through the entire Data-Driven Quality Improvement training programme — Part 1 in July and Part 2 in September.

The question we are here to answer

"We collect a LOT of data — and it does not change anything we do."

If that sentence is familiar, this hour is for you. It is the most common sentence in Nigerian quality improvement. In the next 55 minutes we will name why it keeps happening — and show you the programme designed to fix it.

What we will cover today
  • Why this programme exists — the three problems data-rich hospitals share
  • The curriculum — six learning objectives and seven certificate-named tools
  • Part 1 in detail — the 8 July Foundation training
  • Part 2 in detail — the September Certificate Programme
  • Pricing and how to enrol
  • Open Q&A — bring every question to chat

Why this programme exists

11:05 → 11:10 WAT · 5 minutes

Three problems data-rich hospitals share

Most Nigerian hospitals collect a lot of data and still struggle to improve care. The problems are not about effort — they are about three specific failure modes in how data is gathered, interpreted, and presented to leadership.

1. Data is collected, then buried

The reporting burden eats the analytic step.

Ward register, theatre book, IPC diary, incident folder — four sources, four rooms. Two days a month go into copying numbers. By the time the spreadsheet is ready, there is no time left to plot the chart or interpret it.

2. Numbers are reported, not interpreted

Comparison is not learning.

"This month looks about the same as last month." Without a median line and a signal rule, every wobble looks meaningful — or nothing does. The committee shrugs. Improvement is claimed without evidence, and contradicted without evidence.

3. Leadership sees data without a decision

A dashboard that asks no question is decoration.

The CMD reads fast and wants the story, the implication, and the ask — on one page. Most dashboards bury all three under traffic-light cells. The improvement work dies in the gap between the chart and the decision.

The programme is built specifically to fix all three.

Common questions, answered upfront

Is this only for doctors?
No — nurses, midwives, pharmacists, allied health, QI Leads, hospital administrators and managers, all welcome. The toolkit is profession-agnostic.

Do we need any special software?
No. Excel and a free Google account are enough. We do not teach proprietary tools.

Can my hospital sponsor me?
Yes. Ask in chat and we'll send a sponsor-ready invoice for your finance office.

When do exact Part 2 dates lock?
At Part 1 on 8 July — Day 1, Day 2, and the coaching calendar are all announced live in that session.
